The game of soccer has been played all over the world for over one hundred years and with the time that has gone by, so have rules to make the game better and safer. The players equipment that must be worn today is way different than back in 1863. Now all players must wear a jersey, proper footwear, shin pads, shorts and socks. Another big rule that has come into play over time are fouls and misconduct and the differences between them. A foul occurs when a player goes to get the ball from another player and gets physical accidentally, but misconduct is when a player purposely targets and kicks, pushes, or punches his opponent. Depending on the seriousness of the foul or misconduct, the referee can penalize that players team with a choice of either a free kick or penalty kick. Lastly, would be the different ways one player can score for their team, which is called a goal. A goal or score happens when the ball crosses acrossed the goal line and into the net. The entire ball must cross the line or else it will be called a no goal. Goals can be scored either during game play or off of a penalty kick or free kick.
