American Soccer Verses European Soccer Trends

Soccer may be the same sport everywhere in the world, but it is quite evident that trends for American soccer are very different from European soccer. First of all, soccer is the premier sport in Europe and it is the one that is watched the most and supported the most. Major European soccer clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan have millions of fans in Europe and the rest of the world and they are famous wherever they go. That is very different from American soccer teams that are not as well known.Additional information can be found at http://theoriginalwinger.com/2011-09-06-soccer-in-america-contest. There are a number of reasons for this.

First of all, America has so many more sports that have more popularity than soccer and these are sports that Americans are born with. While soccer is getting more popular, the fact that only one or two goals are scored all game means that people do find it less entertaining than basketball or the NFL. They think that not enough action is happening, while in Europe people appreciate every aspect of the game and not just the goals that are scored. They love the tackles, the passing and the intensity while Americans just want to see goals.

American soccer also has a lot less money. Most players are recruited from college and they are not paid a huge amount. Each team is only allowed one or two marquee signings that earn more wages and that means the standard of American soccer is very low. In comparison, European soccer stars earn as much as baseball, basketball and NFL stars and that is why their teams and their leagues are so much better. They have superior quality and bigger stadiums and a larger fan base. So American soccer has a long way to go before it can think of matching that.
